Title: Jalapeno Cornbread

Yield: 9 Servings

1cCornmeal
1/2tsSalt
1/2tsSoda
1cCorn, cream-style
2 Eggs; slightly beaten
4ozGreen chili peppers; finely chopped
2/3cButtermilk
1/3cShortening; melted
1cCheese, Cheddar; shredded

Combine all ingredients, except shredded cheese, in a bowl. Mix well and pour half the batter into a hot, greased 9" baking pan. Sprinkle cheese on top, and cover with remaining batter. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
